martin de candre
As far as we know, we are the only retailer who stocks and sells the Martin de Candre line, outside of their Paris retail location and their shop at their factory. Unsurpassed quality and legendary performance, Martin de Candre products grace the dens of even the most discerning.

Quite possibly over-rated and completely misunderstood because of the enigma the makers are able to perpetuate in their product ? Don't get me wrong...a great shave soap and one that all should try if possible...just not the absolute best (see XPEC and Antica Barbieria Colla for those). Due to the 'hot' process employed, a process very rare these days, the soap is aged for around six months after formulation...so quit your incessant whining about the price !!! Buy it...don't buy it...but if you want it...we're the only retail point outside of their Paris retail store or French factory, as far as we know.
The stuff lasts forever. The 200g jars are full to the brim with a heavy, dense shave soap and not much at all is required to build a full, slick lather. The Regular scent (strong, pungent lavender) is their classic and the one that has catapulted them into their envious position. Their newer scent, Fougere (which means 'fern' in French) is a fresh, well, fern-like smell. The third is an Unscented version for those who prefer their lather minus a sense.
Notes on our reviews:
...we are not attempting to portray every product that we review with glowing praise and self-serving promotion, we are attempting to give you our honest opinions. As such, if we do begin gushing out praise, then it's a heartfelt and based upon our personal likes and proclivities. Otherwise expect clinical and objective comments or, in the worse cases, criticisms when necessary.
...the opinions and views expressed in our reviews are provided as yet one more piece of the never-ending shavers puzzle. You are encouraged to seek out as many discussions and other reviews as possible, rife on the shaving forms, and to explore the manufacturer's own websites for precise specifications and descriptions. Although we do our absolute best to provide accurate information as well as our own observations, we are most likely sure to make a few mistakes, here and there, and we will most assuredly keep vigilant in keeping those to a minimum.
...you are always welcome to call us for further or more in-depth discussion of any of our products.
